ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
LiteratureXchange is a new international literature festival in Aarhus which first edition spanned 10 days from the 14th to the 24th of June 2018. The second edition of LiteratureXchange will be held in June 2019.

The 2018-programme consisted of around 150 events with everything from literary dinners and hair salons, in addition to traditional readings and debates. LiteratureXchange presents Danish as well as international authors, talks between researchers and authors about international topics and different offbeat activities making the entire city buzz with literature.

The festival is present throughout Aarhus with open-air events, in theatres, cafés and several other cultural institutions.

Organisers: Aarhus Centre for Literature, Aarhus Public Libraries and People's University (Folkeuniversitetet) in Aarhus.

LiteratureXchange is sponsored by Aarhus Kommune, Danish Arts Council and Spar Nord Fonden.

International perspective
LiteratureXchange explores how literature can challenge our understanding of ourselves and the world we live in. Can literature change the world? Can it change our opinions or put them in perspective?

The festival will create a space for dialogue concerning the potentials of literature by focusing on current global themes. This will be discussed by international and Danish authors, researchers and critics.

Volunteers
We always need extra hands. Contact volunteer coordinator Lisbet Knudsen, if you are interested in joining the team.

Collaborators
LiteratureXchange is a city festival. For that reason we collaborated in 2018 with a wide range of organisations in Aarhus, among some are Kristian F. Møller, 365TEKSTER, Aarhus Domprovsti and Løve's Bog og Vincafé and publishers such as Silkefyret, Klim and Modtryk.

NorthLit
NorthLit is a new Nordic Literature Festival, which took place in Aarhus, 20th -24th June 2018. It is an independent part of LiteratureXchange. The festival is organized by Testrup Højskole, Litteraturen på Scenen (LIPS) and Aarhus Litteraturcenter.

NorthLit took place at ARoS, Testrup Højskole and Godsbanen.

Each time the festival is held the focus will be on a new area or focal point in the world. In 2018 it was the Middle East and North Africa. Arabic literature has a long and rich tradition, which we do not know in Denmark, mainly because so few authors are translated. This is about to change with this festival – this summit between Arabic and Nordic literature.
